It called from thousands of miles.
Floated dreams through foamy waves
and evaporated onto my skin.
I was taken and forever changed.
I was relocated and never the same.
The sound of the seagulls greets me with the sun.
The taste of salt rests permanently
on my tongue.
I’m where my breath is clean.
Where my hope can be seen.
The miles have burned shorter
as my heart finds the shore
and the ache of yesterday
is locked
behind yesterday’s door.
