Lyrical Friday

Welcome to Lyrical Friday! Music is so important in all of our creative journeys as well as in our own personal soundtrack of life. So many songs have influenced me and I want to use this day to put up a video and lyrics of songs from all genre’s that I find to have some sort of beauty or impact, or that I just think are amusing!
For those of you who follow my Lyrical Friday, this is not the first you would have heard of my favorite band, Everygrey.  They are a progressive metal band from Sweden that have been around since 1995 and put out their first album in ’98. Their songs are dark, epic, and hit hard.  Tom Englund is an AMAZING vocalist. He opens his mouth and I halt in my tracks to listen.  He also writes lyrics that will dig deep and grip hard.  If you get

together perfect poetic lyrics and fantastic vocals, you have me hooked for a lifetime.
I discovered Evergrey around 2004 when Headbangers Ball played their single I’m Sorry from their previous album at thetime, Recreation Day.  Since then, they have pulled me in and kept me there. I admire their talent and feel blessed to have discovered them (which is why I need to spread the word!) My excitement is brewing right now as I get to go see them for the first time in just a few weeks! I missed their first U.S. tour and have been waiting for years for them to return. There is no way I am missing this one! Check out their new album Glorious Collision, which I will highlight next week.

I’m Sorry from Everygrey’s 2003 album Recreation Day

I’m Sorry
I painted a picture of you,
your soul was red and your mind was blue.
Destiny laid a light on my creation.
This dream I had made a slave of my passion,
reality was always too far away.
And we were happy until it came too close one day.
Suddenly I faced the truth of my dream,
my love had only been a picture, a scene.
I suppose I needed to believe,
didn’t want to see you had never been close to me.
But I’m sorry,
this illusion has caused you a lot of pain.
And I have no solution,
I’ll try to never be back again.
I’m sorry
I’m sorry
I’m sorry
I’m sorry
I painted a picture of you.
My dream was a lie and the lie became truth.
Reality held his breath too long.
It’s disgusting what dreams can do.
But I’m sorry,
this illusion has caused you a lot of pain.
And I have no solution,
I’ll try to never be back again.
I’m sorry
I’m sorry
I’m sorry
I’m sorry
