Lyrical Friday

Welcome to Lyrical Friday! Music is so important in all of our creative journeys as well as in our own personal soundtrack of life.  So many songs have influenced me and I want to use this day to put up a video and lyrics of songs from all genre’s that I find to have some sort of beauty or impact, or that I just think are amusing!

What a smoky and bluesy voice this boy has! Jonny Lang was 17 when he made his first album in 1997, although he had an independent album released when he was 14. He is a fantastic guitarist and a wonderful vocalist. He currently has four studio albums, one independent and one live.

Lie To Me from the 1997 album by Jonny Lang – Lie To Me

Lie To Me
Lie to me and tell me everything is all right
Lie to me and tell me that you’ll stay here tonight
Tell me that you’ll never leave
Oh, and I’ll just try to make believe
That everything, everything your telling me is true
Come on baby won’t you just
Lie to me, go ahead and lie to me
Lie to me, it doesn’t matter anymore
It could never be, the way it was before
If I can’t hold on to you
Leave me somethin’ I can hold onto
For just a little while won’t you, won’t you let me be
Oh, anyone can see
That you love him more than me
But right now baby let me pretend
That our love will never end
Lie to me, go ahead and lie to me

  1. Nice find. Was just covering a local jazz and blues fest this weekend, so the tone, that musical quality…I was all ready and waiting for it when he began to cut loose.

    1. Awww… very cool. This is a talented man right here and was so shocked that he was so young when this hit. All his albums are pretty different and have evolved to other things, but his playing is still amazing. I love jazz & blues! 🙂
