Lyrical Friday

Welcome to Lyrical Friday! Music is so important in all of our creative journeys as well as in our own personal soundtrack of life.  So many songs have influenced me and I want to use this day to put up a video and lyrics of songs from all genre’s that I find to have some sort of beauty or impact, or that I just think are amusing!

This week I am heading back to 1983 with The Police.  They had a number of excellent hits since they formed in 1977 with their lead singer Sting.  Their most popular album was their last, Synchronicity, then the group disbanded in 1984.  There was always a creepy dark  feel underlying in a lot of  their songs.  One of their most popular, Every Breath You Take, was riddled with a stalker vibe but the audience took it as a sweet love ballad.  I love songs that do that!
My favorite line from this song  “I will turn your face to alabaster – When you find your servant is your master”
Wrapped Around Your Finger from the 1983 album Synchronicity by The Police

Wrapped Around Your Finger
You consider me the young apprentice
Caught between the Scylla and Charibdes
Hypnotized by you if I should linger
Staring at the ring around your finger
I have only come here seeking knowledge
Things they would not teach me of in college
I can see the destiny you sold
Turn into a shining band of gold
I’ll be wrapped around your finger
I’ll be wrapped around your finger
Mephistopheles is not your name
I know what you’re up to just the same
I will listen hard to your tuition
You will see it come to it’s fruition
I’ll be wrapped around your finger
I’ll be wrapped around your finger
Devil and the deep blue sea behind me
Vanish in the air you’ll never find me
I will turn your face to alabaster
When you find your servant is your master
Oh, you’ll be wrapped around my finger
You’ll be wrapped around my finger
You’ll be wrapped around my finger
