Lyrical Friday

Stevie Ray Vaughan had a beautiful career with his first album in 1983 and stretching 20 albums later that include box sets and best of’s after his life was cut short by a tragic helicopter accident in 1990. I love so much of his work but chose the one that holds the most memories for me. Stevie Ray Vaughan was a true Guitar Hero.

Pride and Joy from his debut 1983 album Texas Flood.

Pride and Joy

Well you’ve heard about love
givin’ sight to the blind
My baby’s lovin’ cause
the sun to shine

(chorus)
She’s my sweet little thang
She’s my pride and joy
She’s my sweet little baby
I’m her little lover boy

Yeah I love my baby
heart and soul
Love like ours won’t
never grow old

(chorus)

Yeah I love my lady
she’s long and lean
You mess with her
you’ll see a man get mean

(chorus)

Well I love my baby
like the finest wine
Stick with her
until the end of time

(chorus)

Yeah I love my baby
heart and soul
Love like ours won’t
never grow old

(chorus)

Poetry is my heart, anchors my soul and documents my journey — Jessica Kristie

Embracing past elbow and wrist, a meaning that means, so much more than this. — Unsaid, Dreaming in Darkness

Stillness in your memories, I feel it from here. Eerie and convalescent. — Sarafina, Dreaming in Darkness

There are no more rafts I can throw out and no more shores for you to land. — Done, Dreaming in Darkness

I need in shades of pink. I hurt in shades of blue. What this burden brings ... is farther than my reach. — Shades of You & Me, Dreaming in Darkness

Through my fingers memories slipped, of pressing lips and your fingertips. — What This Seems, Dreaming in Darkness

With no hesitation you breathe love. Bringing back my estranged comfort. Reminding me of who I can be. — Hidden Hero, Dreaming in Darkness
